Kathmandu, Shrawan 13 - In a major Kathmandu drug seizure, the Armed Police Force (APF) arrested three individuals after recovering 120,000 Domadol capsules suspected to be controlled drugs in the Gangkhel area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The incident has drawn attention as one of the latest developments in Kathmandu crime news and an ongoing investigation into alleged drug smuggling in Nepal.
Those apprehended include 26-year-old Rakesh Kumar Shah, who claims to be from India; 21-year-old Naushad Ansari of Kalaiya-5, Bara; and 24-year-old Deepak Rai of Manebhanjyang-5, Okhaldhunga, who is currently residing in Mahalaxmi Municipality-6, Lalitpur. According to the APF, a specialized team from its Intelligence Bureau carried out the operation on Tuesday after receiving information about suspected drug smuggling in Nepal, allegedly involving the transportation of controlled substances from India for distribution within the country.
During the operation, officers recovered 120,000 capsules of the suspected Damadol drug, a Tata cargo vehicle, a motorcycle registered in Bagmati Province, three mobile phones, and an undisclosed amount of Nepali currency. The 120000 Domadol capsules seized in Kathmandu are now part of the evidence in the ongoing investigation. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and APF co-spokesperson Shailendra Thapa claimed that the suspects, as well as the seized objects, have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further legal procedures. Investigators will look into the origins of the suspected Domadol drug, whether any other individuals were involved, and whether there is enough evidence to establish criminal charges.
The case, widely referred to as the Gangkhel drug case, remains under investigation. As with all criminal matters, the three individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
